History

December 7th, 2008 will be the 17th annual Day of Infamy Snowshoe Race with the first race in 1991 directed by Ann Hopkinson and Fletcher Anderson. They started this race to honor the servicemen who lost their lives in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Wanting to increase the popularity of the race, it was developed into a benefit race for the animal shelters around Garfield & Pitkin County. Last year the race had over 125 participants and raised $2500 which was divided between Colorado Animal Rescue, Rifle Dog Pound, and Mid-Valley Animal Rescue.

This race has a reputation of fun and folly with awesome prizes following the race from our great sponsors listed below.
