History
December
9th, 2012 will be the 21th annual Day of Infamy Snowshoe Race with
the first race in 1991 directed by Ann Hopkinson and Fletcher Anderson.
They started this race to honor the servicemen who lost their lives
in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Wanting to increase the popularity
of the race, it was developed into a benefit race for the animal shelters
around Garfield & Pitkin County. Last year the race had 200 participants
and raised $3,000 which was divided between Colorado Animal Rescue, Rifle
Dog Pound, Animal Rescue Foundation, and Mid-Valley Animal Rescue.
