December 7th, 2013 will be the 23rd annual Day of Infamy Snowshoe Race with the first race in 1991 directed by Ann Hopkinson and Fletcher Anderson. They started this race to honor the servicemen who lost their lives in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Wanting to increase the popularity of the race, it was developed into a benefit race for the animal shelters around Garfield & Pitkin County. Each year we have 100 or more racers and the proceeds are divided between Colorado Animal Rescue, Rifle Dog Pound, Animal Rescue Foundation, and Mid-Valley Animal Rescue.

This race has a reputation of fun and folly with awesome prizes following the race from our great sponsors listed below.

This race is an 8k race that winds through beautiful Babbish Gulch. There is usually 10k of groomed track on Sunlight's Cross Country system. The race course uses the best snow available. The track may even lead off onto a single track couse. The course is regularly packed (machine or by foot) before the race day. If you have any questions feel free to contact the race director at the address or phone number listed below.

Registration for the race can be done locally before race day at Summit Canyon Mountaineering (8th and Grand in Glenwood Springs) and Independence Run and Hike in Carbondale for a pre-registration fee of $20.
